The current implementation phase, launched in March 2026, focuses on mapping over 200 business processes and conducting associated detailed design activities with business process experts from across the Institute. Over the next year, the project team will take day-to-day functions, such as purchasing, budgeting and payroll and set them up in the new Oracle Cloud system.
Key Activities to Date
- Hosting monthly Information Sessions for the MIT community to learn about Momentum; over 200 staff members have participated as of September 2026
- Launched Momentum in a Minute communication series to provide regular updates to the Institute
- Completed initial unit testing across Human Resources, Finance, and Research teams, reviewing 600+ business processes
- Engaging with 199 business process experts across DLCIs to participate in and provide feedback on system design
- Facilitating Chart of Accounts mapping sessions across DLCIs
- Facilitated initial outreach meetings with administrators to build awareness of the current phase and next steps (200+ participants)
- Conducted business process pilot sessions with subject matter experts across campus in three areas: recruit-to-hire for Human Resources, accounts receivable and billing for Finance, and effort reporting for Research Administration
- Completed discovery phase in Spring 2026 to confirm priorities, finalize project scope, and refine implementation strategy
